Goodnight Moon: The Gritty Reboot

It is safe to say that most people born in the last 70 years likely are familiar with the famous children’s story, Goodnight Moon. Having been raised on it ourselves, we decided it was the perfect subject for the “gritty reboot” treatment.

While revisiting this classic story by Margaret Wise Brown, we realized it’s actually quite disturbing when viewed through a different lens (read: our sick minds). We ran with this, giving every detail a terror-rific twist, including a unique ending sure to leave the viewer breathless. The video garnered nearly 200,000 views, and received praise from publications such as BoingBoing, New Media Rockstars, and Mashable.

BEHIND THE SCENES

The story of Goodnight Moon takes place in a large, green room. Fortunately, a friend of ours had a large, green living room, which he let us transform into the spooky set seen in the piece. Check out our Behind the Scenes process, as well as a Before & After video comparing the final product with the locked cut before any visual effects or color grading were incorporated.
